Most shoppers buy a mix of own brands & branded products. To make your supermarket trolley trundle, cheaper, healthier and happier we are now going to include the same information for the leading brands as we already do for the supermarkets’ own brands.
Although most of the leading brands have been tasted or tested, their purpose was (and still is) purely as a benchmark product for the supermarket’s own brand. Therefore, unlike the own brands, the leading food brands are not scored, although each one will show the Recommended Retail Price (RRP), nutritional, organic, vegetarian suitability, Fairtrade, eco-Friendly and dietary information.
With this branded information on the database, the surfing shoppers, (especially the ones that don’t have the time to read the eye-squinting back labels or are simply shopping for products that are free from dairy, soya, gluten, nuts & seeds, wheat, fish, mustard, celery, egg or ones that are low in salt, sugar and saturated fat) are now able simply to tick the check boxes on the search page and find products that they can put in the trolley.
